Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

My name is Carli Levethan, and I’m from Stamford, Connecticut. I am currently 17 years old and am a current senior at my local high school. I’ve played varsity volleyball and some tennis for the past four years. I’ll be attending Hofstra University this upcoming fall, and I am thrilled! Community service is something that I am extremely passionate about, and I hope to eventually pursue something similar later in life. Lastly, family is a value that has been instilled in me, so it is the biggest and most important part of my life… food is up there too :)

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to make a positive impact on my community. I hope to someday be involved in international communities that are in need. Whether it be working with the hungry, the less fortunate, the differently abled, etc, I hope to benefit their lives in some way, shape, or form. By doing so, I hope to enhance my sense of self and recognize my privilege.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

From the day you are born, this world will leave its marks on you. From the freckles you are born with, to the scars you will create, everyone is unique and everyone deserves to be celebrated. That is what is so incredible about this world: no two people are the same. Simply, there are endless types of beautiful. The most important and hardest part is learning how to love yourself for your individual beauty.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

While it is limited, I do have three other sisters. As you could imagine, photography is a big part of our lives. From the beaches in Florida to the silly dance parties in our room, we are constantly capturing the present moment, so someday in the future, we can always look back on the past.

What is your dream brand to model for?

Based on my style and interests, I’d have to say Calvin Klein is a company I would love to model for. In addition, their company works closely with Habitat For Humanity which is an organization that I personally love, so seeing the company’s selflessness and dedication to a charity is an important factor to me as well.

How would you describe your fashion style?

Out of this society’s constantly changing fashion trends, I always seem to revert back to athletic wear. Being so busy between school, my social life, and my community service, I am constantly moving around, and I find athletic wear to be most comfortable for the lifestyle I live every day.

How important is self-awareness and confidence to you in your everyday life?

I once struggled with self-esteem and confidence, but now, I can proudly say I have worked for the past year and a half to get to the incredible place I am now. This is a place where I can look in the mirror and say to myself “I enjoy the way I look.” I think so many young girls struggle with body image and self confidence in today's day because of social media. I try to leave my positive impact on them as much as I can, and I believe that is a goal everyone should try to set for themselves.

What makes you beautiful?

I believe beauty is half comprised of physicality and half comprised of personality. Not only do I consider my big green eyes a beauty factor of myself, but I also believe my kindness, caring ways, and respect towards others are a big aspect of beauty as well. I wouldn’t consider just my looks the official “definition” of my beauty, but rather my whole package, including my personality and characteristics.

What would you say to another girl your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Never, ever give up. It really is as simple as that. While it may take you years to build your self-confidence to a great level, I promise you, you can get there. With time, patience, and practice, I promise you will be able to achieve it. Just never give up. Because if you give up, you will never know what could have been. I believe this quotation best frames my point: “It is not going to be easy, but it is going to be worth it.” Together, we can become our own kind of beautiful.
