Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add) Hi! My name is Raquel Abalos, I'm 21 years old and I  live in Los Angeles Ca! I'm a recent college graduate from Amda College of the Performing Arts with a Bachelors In Acting. I come from a big family, I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters which leaves me to be the middle child! I'm really into hair care and skin care. In my free time I like to create makeup looks and learn as much as I can with different techniques. I also sword fight! I am certified in the weapon broadsword and currently taking classes to get certified for another weapon!

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I started modeling when I was 19. I just got out of a recent breakup during that time and I just wanted to feel good about myself. Most of my friends are photographers and I decided to reach out to them to do photoshoots. What became one photo session became one of many. I have done quite a bit of photoshoots with different photographers and exploring different styles every photographer has to offer. I used to be so insecure about myself and now I'm not afraid to be in front of the camera!

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream in life would be to have a successful career and do what I love! I want to give back to my parents because they have sacrificed so much for my education and dreams. I would like to return the favor to them!

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To be your own kind of beautiful is just embracing who you are, flaws and all! I used to compare myself to others and try to copy other girls whether that be in how they looked and how they acted, simply because I was so insecure about how others would perceive me. I realize now that it is okay to be who you are. At the end of the day the only person that is going to take care of yourself is in fact yourself.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style would be chic, trendy and fashionable. I like to see what's in style but also I like to see what I like to put together!

Who or what inspires you?

My dad inspires me the most. When I was little, he was and still is my biggest supporter on what I want to do. He has helped me through my toughest times and he sacrifices a lot just for me to have a better life than he had. He wants me to succeed more in life than he did and I would just want to make him proud.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My advice that I would give to someone that is just starting modeling would be  to first love and embrace who you are. Don't compare yourself to others. That will only stop you in your growth and journey. Try out different poses! Learn what looks good for you and what doesn't.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

One obstacle that I had to overcome would be my mom almost losing her life to covid. Unfortunately during November of last year, My mom got covid-19 and it was just so hard to watch her struggle to take a breath and have coughing attacks to the point that she couldn't breathe. For the first time in my life, I thought I was going to lose her. That made me realize that life is short and sometimes unpredictable. My mom is one of the lucky ones to not have covid take her life. With that experience, I learned that you need to take risks and hug your loved ones every so often just because life is unpredictable.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

What makes me beautiful is my personality and love for others. I will make sure that someone else gets their needs before me. If someone is struggling whether that be financially, mentally, or physically. I want people to know that I am that person that they can count on. The world is already a messy place and I just want to spread kindness and care to people that need it the most.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would say that it's okay to struggle. Look back, reflect and grow from it. It's okay that you don't look like somebody else. In fact that's great. Let there only be one you. Don't try to be someone you're not because that will personally ruin you mentally.
