Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

My name is Rachel Sears and I am 19 years old. I am originally from New York but recently moved to Charleston South Carolina with my family, and am currently a Sophomore at the University of Tampa studying Criminology/ Criminal Justice. I grew up playing soccer, track and dance, and have always had a love of staying fit and active.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

In terms of modeling experience I did a few photoshoots when I was younger with my older sister. I had an opportunity to work with Wilhelmina Models but because of my age and very crooked teeth I decided to wait until I was a bit older which leads me to where I am today.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to hopefully own my own business or practice one day. I have considered Law School as a possible path for me to take but one of my biggest dreams I have always had was to potentially work my way into the modeling industry.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

For me being your own kind of beautiful means being able to embrace all parts of yourself and cherish and love them. It can sometimes be a hard thing to do but at the end of the day the love we have for ourselves is a big reflection of who we are. Beauty comes in many different forms and being able to appreciate our own kind of beauty, internally and externally is key.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is constantly changing and developing. I view my style as holding a lot of variety. I tend to lean towards your more sporty and comfy looks, but I also love to dress up and show a more professional side to myself through my clothes. I lean towards more neutral tones and colors, but also use warm colors like reds and oranges as a go to as well.

Who or what inspires you?

A lot of my inspiration stems from celebrities who are constantly changing up styles and stepping outside the typical comfort zone we may see within fashion. Emma Chamberlain is someone who has inspired me to create my own style and explore with different looks. In terms of modeling she has also helped me in terms of confidence and embracing all features and parts of myself. Whenever I see something new or "odd" in fashion it always sparks my interest to not be afraid to experiment and find my own individuality.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

For anyone who is entering modeling or thinking about it, my advice is to just do it. It will be scary and new and something that is a big step for you but if it is something that you have always been drawn to and have a love for then just do it. Everyone starts somewhere and all you can do from here on out is grow.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Growing up I was constantly being judged on my size. Being a very small kid I faced a lot of challenges in sports and being viewed as " too weak" or not as capable as the other athletes. I got cut from teams and would spend my days doing push ups just trying to gain muscle so my coaches would take me seriously. It took time and a lot of ups and downs but It made me realize that I will never let others define my strength and capabilities based on my appearance. I would also never let outside opinions come in between me and my passions and was willing to work harder and harder everyday to prove anyone who doubted me wrong. That is something I will continue to follow each and every day.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

What I think makes me beautiful is that I am unique. I have my own unique values, goals, thoughts, and appearance. But that's not just what makes me beautiful, that's what makes every single person beautiful. All these internal factors are what reflects who we are on the outside. In my opinion being different from anyone else is where I see my beauty stand.

What would you say to another guy/ girl your age who is struggling with their confidence?

To anyone else my age struggling with confidence I would simply tell them that I do too. Everyone does, but it is simply just our own selves being our worst critic because I can promise them that everyone around them sees how much beauty, and power they hold. Confidence will come and go and that's okay.
