Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

Hi, my name is Ruthchie! I'm 20 years young. I was born in the Philippines and moved to the States at the age of 5. I grew up in a small town called Delano. Some of my favorite things in the world are food, music, rain, and modeling. I am also a skincare junkie, I love trying new products!

Tell us about your modeling experience.

The most difficult part for me was getting started in the industry. I had watched so many videos of models giving tips on where to start along with research on what to wear to a casting, body placements and angles, runway walk, facial expressions, etc.. I met some AMAZING photographers in college who were interested in getting together for photoshoots, and they had given me such positive feedback. They motivated me even more to pursue modeling. Since then, I had the confidence to reach out to other creators to build my portfolio and show diversity in my work. Doing so got me to work with LA creators commuting back & forth 2-4 times a week, and I loved every second of it.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to launch my own skincare line. I invest a lot of time on my skin, and I'd love to create something to help others achieve a routine just for their skin type.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Being our own kind of beautiful is loving ALL OF YOU. Doing what you love and doing it just for you. Everyone is unique in their own way. One has to appreciate and love themself; beauty comes from within. Be proud of yourself.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I don't have one particular style as I enjoy switching it up every now and then. I know I can rock anything, no matter the style which is why fashion is so fun! My current favorite style right now is the minimal look; super clean and chic.

Who or what inspires you?

Meeting new people in the industry along with other creators inspires me. Why? We're able to share how far we've come. It's crazy how much you can learn from an individual you just met in a day. It sparks drive, new interests, and creative ideas.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Do reach out to creators in the industry. Take in helpful tips from videos. Practice, practice, practice. Practice makes progress.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

I have always been reserved and timid. Too afraid to voice my ideas. But there came a point where I knew modeling was my passion. It's me. The process of getting everything ready before a photoshoot, to waking up early in the morning to get ready. I felt amazing in front of the camera. Everything came so natural to me.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Always put yourself first. Embrace everything about you. Do not listen to negative people. Surround yourself with those who love you for YOU.
