Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

I’m from Hickory, North Carolina and I just turned 21 years old. I’m a student at SCAD studying film and television as well as advertising. I love traveling, dancing, and doing yoga.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I started modeling for my friends’ clothing brands and really enjoyed it. Then, I started modeling for my school. I model for the student fashion designers for their design process, critiques, and personal photoshoots. I was in the end of the year fashion show and was featured in the Vogue article about it. I really enjoy it and have a lot of fun doing it.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to travel the world doing what I love.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Being your own kind of beautiful to me means to be unapologetically yourself.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I would say my fashion style is diverse. I like business clothes a lot, but also street style clothing. Some of my favorite articles of clothing are loafers, sweaters, hoodies, and sneakers.

Who or what inspires you?

My Dad inspires me a lot because of his drive and persistence. He always told me to never give up on anything and to always keep trying. Movies also inspire me, particularly Jordan Peele’s and Wes Anderson’s films. I find inspiration in a lot of things whether that be a person, an experience, art, or a place.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My advice would be to believe in yourself. Rejection is very common, but you cannot allow it to break your self confidence, or your drive to keep going.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Rejection. It really sucks when you get told no from a job you really want, a company you want to work with, or an agency you want to be a part of, especially when you have something to offer. But you have to keep pushing and applying yourself because the second you admit defeat, or allow a no to stop you, you will never prevail.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

My personality, my compassion, my creativity, and my open-mindedness makes me beautiful.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would say to practice gratitude and affirmation. Instead of focusing on the negatives, find the positives and remind yourself of them daily. Everyone has insecurities, and they can be consuming especially in our society with the prominence of social media. But focus on what you love about yourself and what makes you special, and remind yourself of those things frequently.
