Tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Minnesota Minneapolis, and came to Utah when I was seven years old. I've always had a love for art and any form of expression of art. Both of my parents immigrated from mexico. Because of them, I don't take anything that I do with a grain of salt. Simply because of the fact that my mother and father did not sacrifice their lives for me to take my life for granted. Instead, They have taught me that this country will reward me with my dreams and goals by working hard and smart.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I’ve been modeling for a year now and I must say, This journey has been full of surprises. I started off as a junior in high school planning small photoshoots with friends I knew were experienced in photography or local photographers. I started posting my photoshoots on Instagram and got some exposure. Thus leading to many brands contacting me to collaborate with them or model their products. By far modeling has impacted my life for the better and I will always cherish this experience.

What is your biggest dream?

Modeling has always been my biggest dream and slowly but surely, I'm beginning to take it more seriously. But to be specific as far as my career, my biggest dream is to one day be published in a magazine and have at least walked one runway in my life. Another really big goal and dream I currently have for myself is to be a model in New York Fashion week.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

It's hard to grasp this concept but personally to me, this means owning who you are and fully embodying YOU no matter the circumstances. It's to empower your attributes and anything and everything about yourself. Because inevitably society will create these fabricated standards and make you believe you should be or look a certain way. However, It’s up to you to disregard these standards and understand that the best thing is to look into yourself for what beauty truly is.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I used to believe that I could only have one style and that I should stick with that and only that. However, the beauty in fashion is that there are so many ways you can express yourself through your clothes and constructing your identity. Currently my style has been a mix of various different things like edgy and chic.

Who or what inspires you?

Shorter modes are my biggest inspiration. I struggle being confident with my height. However, when I see models as short at 5’4 or shorter on the runway, in a magazine or a commercial,  I instantly get so encouraged and happy seeing someone the same height as me accomplishing big things.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Believing in yourself is key to accomplishing any modeling. I advise you to never get discouraged by people's negative comments or certain standards this industry may have. Rejection will always be a part of modeling, but being able to overcome rejection is a healthy way to become successful.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Growing up I would say I definitely would get bullied a lot. People would make fun of my looks and or my weight. I always felt ugly and it wasn't until my freshman year of highschool that it stopped. Of course I still get those comments occasionally, however now I've learned how to realize that people like that want to see me fail. These people get a rise out of making me feel little. I’ve become more confident in myself and realized what I'm worth. I'm now able to see those comments without having them ruin my day and my perspective of myself.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

My culture, my confidence, and my energy.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Give yourself as much time as you want.  If you try to rush into it then you won't truly feel confident. It’s important to understand that your appearance is not the only thing that should make you beautiful. Your energy, your presence, your personality, are all attributes that make you beautiful. Self love is one of the biggest key to being confident.
