Tell us about yourself.

Hi, I’m Alexis! I’m 15 years old, and I’m from Kansas City, Missouri. I’m very passionate about fashion and modeling and use it as an outlet to create and express myself. I’m also a dancer on my high school dance team.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I started modeling almost two years ago now. I started reaching out to try to connect and collaborate with different photographers from everywhere for greater exposure in the industry. And I’ve also been fortunate to be in the last 4 seasons of Kansas City Fashion Week

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream as a model especially is to be on the cover of Vogue one day. But to also travel the world and meet and create with new people, as well as some big influential people and brands. But most importantly I want to inspire others through my dedication and work ethic, so they can achieve what they dream and desire of with hard work.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To be your own kind of beautiful to me is to authentically be yourself and accepting yourself for who you are and not letting anyone’s input on you hinder your confidence.

As well as having a strong personality and mindfulness. Finding what makes you unique and using it to your full advantage is essential.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I love to experiment with clothing and create new things, so my style changes every day. But I would describe it as; chic, statement-making, and elevated.

Who inspires you?

I have a ton of people who inspire me in my life, but my parents really inspire a lot because of their work ethic. They really teach me that with lots of hard work, dedication, passion as well as remaining humble, can get you anywhere you dream to be in life.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and build connections with people. It may seem very intimidating but showing that you’re interested in pursuing this career and taking action will put you at a higher success rate. Also do your research on the industry. The more knowledgeable you are to the industry as well as developing model skills, the better it is to create a career for yourself in this industry. And most importantly, don’t let rejection discourage you, this industry is full of rejection and you will hear more no’s than yes’s. But don’t let those rejections define who you are and where you want to be. Keep working hard and you can achieve anything you put your mind towards.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

My biggest obstacles that I have faced are rejections and insecurities that set me back. But I learned that those things don’t define who I am, those things kept me grounded but I knew I was worthy of accomplishing great things.

What makes you beautiful?

What make me beautiful is my passionate heart and mind and desire to achieve anything I put my mind towards. As well as unapologetically being myself and expressing my self through my style and fashion.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

People are going to hate for no reason at all. But at the end of the day other people’s opinions don’t dictate your perspective on yourself. Continue to do what you love and work hard at whatever you do.
