Tell us about yourself

Hi! My name is Shadha Yasmin Ahmad, and I reside in both California and Texas, traveling back and forth. I'm a mix of Hispanic and Arab, and I grew up in the town of El Paso, Texas. I'm fluent in both English and Spanish! I've always been passionate about modeling, and two years ago went on to pursue my dreams. Since then, I've been working towards my goals, doing countless photoshoots, and even being featured in over ten international publications, including Malvie French Magazine. I've also had the opportunity to work with some incredible brands, such as Charlotte Tilbury, Isle of Paradise, Becca Cosmetics, Peach Slices, BLK Water, and more. Earlier this year, I had the amazing opportunity to walk for NYFW in February, participating in several shows, including the designer Elie Balleh, whose beautiful collections are sold at Saks, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales.

What is your biggest dream?

One day, I aspire to be a model who changes the stereotype of height in the industry. As a petite person, I want to prove that anyone can pursue their dreams of modeling, regardless of their height.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Being your own kind of beautiful means embracing your individuality and unique qualities, rather than trying to fit into society's narrow standards of beauty. It means recognizing that true beauty comes from within and that every person has something special to offer. Being your own kind of beautiful involves feeling confident in your own skin, and not letting the opinions of others dictate how you feel about yourself. Ultimately, it's about loving and accepting yourself just the way you are.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I love all things floral, it's my favorite style, but I do wear other unique styles as well, whether it be strong colors, patterns, or textures.

Who or what inspires you?

My dreams inspire me. I've had these dreams since I was little, and it has inspired me to go for them and chase them.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

If you're just getting started with modeling, my advice would be to start with some basic tutorials and try to get a good understanding of the techniques involved. It's important to take your time and not get too frustrated if things don't come easily at first. Practice makes perfect, so keep at it and you'll get better with time. Don't be afraid to ask for help from more experienced models. Another great way is to look for online communities where you can find tips and castings!

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

As a model, height for me is an obstacle to overcome. I am not exceptionally tall, and I have faced challenges because of it. However, I have learned to work with what I have and focus on other aspects of modeling. For example, I have been able to focus on perfecting my posing, facial expressions, and overall presence on the runway or in front of the camera. By doing this, I have been able to still pursue modeling, despite not being as tall as some of the other models. Overcoming this obstacle has taught me the importance of focusing on my strengths and not letting my weaknesses hold me back.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

My heart is what makes me beautiful. I have a caring heart, and in this world, where it can be tough to come across a friendly face, I am someone who doesn't judge people based on their background. What matters most to me is how you treat others.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would say to another person my age who is struggling with their confidence that they are not alone. It's completely normal to have ups and downs in self-esteem, and everyone goes through them at some point in their lives. It's important to remember that our worth is not determined by external factors like appearance. What truly matters is our character, our values, and our actions. As someone who personally struggled with confidence, I understand how difficult it is to overcome, but I'm here to say from experience that it can be done. One way to help boost your confidence is to focus on your strengths and accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem. Celebrate every victory, no matter how small it may be.
