Tell us about yourself.
My name is Dorela. I am 26 years old. I was born and raised in Albania and the first one from my family to come to this country. It’s been three years now since I’ve moved to the United States. Currently, I’m a certified pharmacy technician.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
My first experience with modeling was responding to a casting call for a hair show. I have always wanted to be a model which started with a few photo shoots in Albania. After going to this casting call I was introduced to the world of modeling and haven’t looked back since.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to become a household name, I would like everyone to know who Dorela Gega is. I’d also like to further my education in pharmacy. I guess you can say I would like my family to be proud of who I am.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
My own kind of beautiful would be something that comes from within. Beauty is seeing people happy, expressing their emotions and being able to smile even in hard times. This world can be filled with so much darkness it's beautiful to see people smile.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style is art mixed with fine designs. I don’t necessarily like expensive brands just because they are expensive but more like a fusion of different print. I also like the classic noir look, red lipstick, prominent eyelashes and stunning hair.
Who or what inspires you?
Hmm, I would say this country inspires me. Few other places you can defy your social construct and become something you weren’t born as. With hard work and dedication living here you could be anyone if you put in the time.
What have been your greatest accomplishments?
I’ve been blessed to have many accomplishments in my young age but I’d say the greatest is being able to stand on my own. With my parents teachings I have been able to become a stable individual in a new place that they haven’t even been to and because of them, self confidence has become my super power.
Do you have any special talents?
Some of my special talents include, being multilingual, drawing, and photography. I’ve been able to expand on these talents as well. With drawing I’ve adapted it into becoming a good hair and make-up artist
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you
I think a big obstacle that I’ve overcome is defying self doubt. I used to be very critical of myself but moving here and learning a new language and a way of life has done a lot for my confidence
What makes you beautiful?
My smile, my attitude, sense of humor, being confident, my strength and resolve, my morals and work ethic. All of these make me beautiful.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
With people struggling with self confidence the best advice I could give is ‘Believe in yourself’ and take that initial step towards your goals. Go to that casting call, apply for that job, schedule that quiz. It may not seem like a lot but as they say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.
