Tell us about yourself

Hello, my name is Ashley Burke, I’m 23 years old and I’m from Venezuela and the little sister o three brothers. I love roller skating under the beach sun, karaoke nights, travel, get to know new people and cultures and being able to be with my family.

Tell us about your modeling experience:

 I started in Venezuela when I was 16, I always struggled with self confidence, regarding my weight or the way I look, so I push myself to try modeling and it became my passion. When I left Venezuela, I tried to continue modeling in Colombia but couldn’t, and now I started again with strong foot because I walked in the NYFW and I feel proud of myself and with so much and with all the hopes to do more.

What is your biggest dream?:

 I want to leave a mark to this world, I want people to know me as somebody who did good and was passionate for what I did. I want to be successful and be able to help other to be successful too.

What does it mean to be your kind of beautiful?:

 Being yourself, living life without worrying what people may thing and enjoying every second of it without compromising your values and principles. Being kind to everyone and helping others. 

How would you describe your fashion style?: 

It’s mixed and I think depends of my mood hahaha. One day I could dress up all vogue and the next day it could be a more street style. I always try new thing that could put me out or my comfort zone and that way I’m able to do different styles. 

Who or what inspires you?: 

My mom and Coco Rocha. My mom because she’s a strong, powerful woman that has overcome so much in life and she has teaching me so many valuable things. Coco Rocha because i want to be able like her, to be part of a healthy side of the fashion industry and help others follow their dreams. 

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?: 

Start with your confidence,  practicing a lot and watch/read as many videos/Vlogs of the Fashion industry and more important, HAVE FUN and not let anyone to put you down.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you:

 I would say immigration. When I had to run from my country and left everything that I knew. It helped me to grow mentally and physically, it helped me to get out of my bubble and see that it was more outside, has been a great journey, and can't wait to see what is next.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?:

 My empathy, I always put effort to be in the shoes of anyone who needs a friend. I love to listen and be there for whoever needs it.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?: 

As a person that has struggled before with self confidence. I would say that is really important your environment, being able to have at least one person that supports and help you to keep going and cheer you up. One thing that helps me a lot is when I woke up on the morning I’ll go directly to the mirror and I say three compliments to myself, we need to try to not compare ourself to others. Everyone has is own kind of beauty.
