Tell us about yourself:

Hello! My name is Emily and I am a runway and editorial model based in the Boston, MA area. Outside of modeling I also love playing volleyball, coaching sports, and spin classes! Additionally, I just graduated with my bachelors of science from the University of New Hampshire and I currently work as a microbiologist when I am not modeling!

Tell us about your modeling experience:

A little over a year ago I wanted to get myself out of my comfort zone so decided to go to an open casting call for a top agency in Boston. To my surprise, I got the call a few days later saying that I was accepted! It was such an eye opening experience for me about learning to take risks and to always try to reach for new opportunities. Since then, I’ve walked in shows across New England including Boston Fashion Week and Massachusetts Fashion Week as well as shows for individual designers and Boston magazines. I am so excited to continue my modeling journey with Hannah Noelle!

What is my biggest dream:

My biggest dream is to walk in New York Fashion Week and to inspire other unconventionally tall girls to be confident in themselves!

What does it mean to be my own kind of beautiful:

Authenticity! I believe embracing yourself and who you are as a person and as a model is the biggest part of being your own kind of beautiful.

How would I describe my fashion style:

My fashion style is always changing! Some days I go casual and comfy and other days I love a more high fashion look. Can’t go wrong with an all black outfit!

Who or what inspires you:

Karlie Kloss is one of my biggest inspirations as we are both on the taller end! I’ve looked up to her for years now as she is an inspiration being a top model at 6’2” and all that she has accomplished.

What is advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling:

I would say to do what I did and get out of your comfort zone and take risks! I am so happy I decided to go to my first casting out of the blue as it led me to so many amazing people and opportunities.

What are some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you:

When I was growing up, I was always a little self conscious about my height as I was always much taller than my friends. People would ostracize me because I was different and I never felt like I fully fit in. It took some real personal growth over the years but now I have come to embrace my height and the community of girls who I have met who are also 6’+!

What makes you beautiful:

Differences make everyone unique and beautiful. Personally, I have come to love my height and it is one of my most distinctive features so I would say that is one of the main things that makes me beautiful. Additionally, I believe that who you are on the inside is what truly makes you beautiful, I try to be someone who is approachable to others and someone who can light up a room!

What would you say to another girl/guy who is struggling with their confidence?

A lesson I learned from both of my parents, past coaches, and even some friends is fake it till you make it. It’s something I’ve tried to live by because just the appearance of confidence is already half the battle! I’ve found that even if I am not feeling the most confident on a particular day, with a little positive self talk or support from a friend or loved one, I am able to gain that appearance of confidence which will then naturally lead to higher self confidence.
