Interview Questions:

Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

I am a 26-year-old southern belle from Mississippi. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, a Bachelor's Degree in Dance Performance and Choreography, and a Master's Degree in Economic Development.  I am the Regional Project Director of an economic development firm, Local Impact Analytics, specializing in grant writing services for municipalities, government agencies, and organizations. I'm also very passionate about the arts! Along with dancing, I grew up singing and playing the violin, piano, and flute. Education and the arts are truly things that I am a huge advocate for.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I have been modeling for about 2 years now. I started with print work where I was asked to do a good bit of independent photoshoots, and I was able to build my portfolio that way. Then I transitioned into runway in my second year of modeling, and I have walked for over 40 designers and have done about 10 or so runway shows within that time.

What is your biggest dream?

My overall modeling dream is to build a consistent career as a print model, but one of my biggest dreams is to be featured in a campaign for a luxury brand.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To be your own kind of beautiful is to embrace the skin that you're in. God created us equally beautiful and in his image, so no one can take away every unique aspect that makes you beautiful. Representation is so important, so if everyone embraces their unique qualities, they can inspire someone out there.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I have so many styles! I love to switch things up, so I would say that my range of styles is between casual chic, elevated streetwear, dressy, and boho.

Who or what inspires you?

The first person who truly inspires me is Eva Marcilee. I look up to her because we are the same height, and she was able to dominate the industry despite her height. She's also had such a long career, and she was able to branch into other avenues, which I'm striving to do, so she gives me hope.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

I would say to do your research and ask for help. When I first started, I was fortunate to have a community of models sending me potential opportunities, but it can be very overwhelming if you don't know where to go, what to do, or how to prepare. There are many ads, opportunities, and scams out there that are looking to take advantage of beginner models who want valid information to start their careers the right way, so it is so important to be able to lean on others to ask if anyone has had any experience in something that you may be interested in. Also, never be afraid to put yourself out there! As a model, you are unique and have qualities and characteristics that no one else has, so taking the road less traveled could be very beneficial.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

I have always had a passion for creating and for the arts. I grew up singing, dancing, and performing my entire life, but I knew, growing up in Mississippi, that if I wanted to do this professionally, I would have to leave one day. Leaving the state is honestly rare where I come from because the state is so far behind everywhere else, so I was often told that my dreams were unrealistic and that I always needed a backup. So, in college, I was a double major in Dance Performance/Choreography and Finance; two completely different fields! But I knew what I wanted. It took 6 years, but I knew that after I finished, I could finally start to pursue my dreams of being whatever I wanted to be by moving out of the state, and that's exactly what I did. I have a completely remote job, and it's allowed me to actively chase my dreams, and I haven't stopped yet.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

My soft spirit and ability to spread love wherever I go make me beautiful. I am a people person, and I love making genuine connections with everyone when I am in a room. I am definitely a person who can talk to a brick wall, but I believe those connections make lasting impacts on others, whether physically, spiritually, or mentally, where they may simply have needed someone to talk to that day.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would say that we are our worst critics and that self-love is so important. There are many things that we beat ourselves up over because we can see every flaw in ourselves, but once we embrace those flaws and love ourselves for who we truly are, no one can tell you about ourselves! Mindset is everything because our inner thoughts are sometimes the most destructive and demeaning. True confidence shines through once we are fully in love with everything that makes you, you!
